Any kittens that are ready to go may be found in: Kittens Available. Adult males and females are sold at a lower price. See Cats Available. Purchasing a Kitten When you decide to buy a Burmese cat do not
be surprised if you may have to wait a while for your new pet. Breeders are
working with living, breathing animals and buying a cat or kitten should not be
like buying a commodity such as a set of tires for your car, they are not
instantly available off of a store shelf. The rare colors like blue and platinum
are not commonly available especially as many Burmese breeders do not work with
these two colors. Be sure to buy from a breeder whose cattery
you can visit or if a visit is not possible, get recommendations. “Kitten
mills” are people who raise unhealthy kittens in very crowded conditions and
their number one concern is the making of money. Most reputable breeders raise
kittens because they love the breed and most want to place their kittens in
loving homes. Make sure when you visit to look for healthy kittens (see below
for signs of good health) and cats. If a breeder does not want you to visit or
wants to meet you somewhere else be careful. The pet buyer should not think this
person is trying to make my task easier but instead you should think, what does
this person not want me to see. You should also receive a health guarantee and
if a breeder is not willing to give you one, go elsewhere. Breeders should be
willing to stand behind the health of their cats. No one can guarantee you that
you will never have ANY medical problems but with a good breeder you are less
likely to have these kinds of problems. What can you expect from us: 1)
We guarantee the health of your kitten, that it is in good health when
you get it and our cattery is feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency
(FIV) free. We also guarantee we are free of parasites (like fleas) and are also
fungus free. 2)
We, in fact, require your own vet to examine your new kitten within three
workdays of acquiring it to confirm it is in good health. 3)
We require that you neuter or spay at an appropriate age. Raising Burmese
kittens is a science, the average kitten buyer does not know about pedigrees and
lines to work with and, therefore, kittens are sold as pets without breeding
rights. 4)
We will provide you with a written sales contract describing all the
terms of the sale, which includes our health guarantee and neuter/spay
agreement. 5)
Kittens will have received two distemper vaccines and will be wormed
before they leave. 6)
We will provide you with diet and feeding instructions and samples of
food to get you and your kitten started in your home. 7)
We will continue to be concerned about the welfare of your new kitten and
encourage you to stay in touch with us and call whenever you have questions or
concerns about your kitten or cat. Good Health Healthy kittens should have good weight. Kittens should have clear, bright eyes. They
should not be sneezing nor have discharge from their eyes. Ears should be pink
and free of black material. There should be no flaky dry skin, bald patches, nor sores of any kind on the skin. |
